
Kim Hinshaw qualified in 1982 in Newcastle upon Tyne and trained in the Northern Deanery as a registrar and in Aberdeen as a Clinical Lecturer/Senior Registrar. He has been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in Sunderland since 1994. He was Director of Research & Innovation from 2010 until 2021.
Kim is a Visiting Professor at Sunderland University. His clinical interests include high-risk pregnancy, preterm birth prevention and intrapartum care an. He has had a long-term interest in training in obstetric skills-drills, & human factors. His team is actively involved in recruiting to NIHR clinical research trials in obstetrics & gynaecology.
Kim has been Faculty Chair for the Baby Lifeline BIRTH2 training programme
