These patient groups often face significant barriers to accessing healthcare, including language, cultural differences, and trauma, which can impact their health outcomes and trust in services.
Course Objectives
The course will focus on:
- Understanding unique challenges: Exploring the health needs and barriers faced by migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking women, with a focus on trauma, cultural practices, and systemic inequities.
- Building trauma-informed care skills: Training participants to recognise signs of trauma and provide care that minimises re-traumatisation.
- Cultural Curiosity and sensitivity: Developing skills to navigate cultural differences and build trust through inclusive communication and respectful engagement.
- Practical strategies: Rights-based tools and approaches to address language barriers, understand asylum policies, and connect patients with appropriate services.
Structure and Delivery
