As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Kingston Hospital for 28 years I led many changes in the unit which almost doubled the number of deliveries, expanded the breadth of services and involved significant changes in the workforce, both in number of staff and practice.
For the 10 years up to my retirement I held the role of Medical Director. At the start of this tenure the Board established the organisation’s core values and subsequently was successful in being certified as a Foundation Trust.
My portfolio included quality improvement, clinical leadership, digital services and information in addition to my statutory responsibilities. We successfully implemented our EPR and were one of the first Trusts to achieve HIMMS level 5.
The Trust achieved a rating of Outstanding from the CQC in 2018, as well as a number of National Awards relating to leadership and effective culture.
Prior to undertaking the role of Medical Director I was involved in Medical Education leading the Trust as Director of Medical Education and prior to this as TPD for SWL in my speciality.
After retiring I was CCIO for the SWL ICS for 2 years and interim Regional Dean for London.
