Elaine is a retired midwife and nurse, after working clinically for 20 years in delivery suite and neonatal units she changed direction and worked as an audit and research midwife.
Senior leadership and management roles followed within the women’s and children’s services.
She spent 13 years in the Channel Islands in a Head of midwifery and later deputy director of governance role. This gave her a whole service perspective for the safe delivery of care away from centres of excellence. Education and training along with developing teams was vitally important during this time. This was when Elaine first encountered the excellent Training offered by Baby Lifeline.
She was awarded for her actions in response to another organisation in need of support.
Following her retirement she had a second career after being approached by NHS England to provide mentoring and support role to other NHS trusts.
Providing a newly appointed Head of Midwifery with encouragement and guidance was a rewarding and satisfying part of her post retirement work.
Outside of work Elaine spends her time travelling , gardening and trying to perfect her painting skills.
