Becs is a transformational leadership coach and former Consultant Vascular Surgeon with 27 years of NHS experience, including 11 years as a consultant. She combines clinical credibility with extensive coaching expertise to support healthcare professionals, teams, and organisations in leading authentically whilst thriving. She currently serves as Clinical Director for the Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire NHS@Home Service and Clinical Governance Lead for Surgery at North Bristol NHS Trust, where she continues to champion compassionate leadership and cultural change within the NHS.
Her journey into coaching emerged from personal experience with work-related trauma. After experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder twice during her surgical career, Becs discovered coaching as a transformative tool for recovery and authentic leadership. This lived experience, combined with her clinical expertise, forms the foundation of her work helping healthcare professionals reclaim their leadership power without burning out. She is the Founder of Becs Winterborn Coaching (www.becswinterborn.co.uk) and is the creator of the Heart-Led Leader’s Compass©, a pioneering archetypal leadership assessment specifically designed for healthcare professionals.
Becs is passionate about teaching and creating transformational learning environments. She is a Faculty Member for the Vascular Society ASPIRE Early Years Consultants Course, where she delivers sessions on imposter syndrome, dealing with difficult cases, and managing the emotional burden of practice. She facilitates workshops for the South-West School of Surgery on “Moving from Silence to Sharing: Embracing vulnerability as a surgeon” and has been invited to present at the British Journal of Surgery Academy Live on leadership, behaviour, and reflection. She was the 2025 Sir Humphry Davy Lecturer for the Society of Anaesthetists of the South-West
