Adele Causer

Lead for Support and Education Midwife, Birmingham

Adele Causer qualified as a midwife in 2006 and began her career working across all areas of maternity care, including labour ward, antenatal assessment, and postnatal services. Throughout her clinical career, she has developed specialist expertise as a Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) practitioner, gained skills in enhanced maternal care, and regularly supported the bereavement team in providing compassionate care to families during times of loss.

In 2017, Adele moved into the role of Practice Development Midwife, where she developed a strong interest in education, simulation, and workforce development. She has since become a Simulation Faculty Educator, Human Factors Master Trainer, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

In 2024, Adele was appointed Lead Support and Education Midwife at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. In this role, she leads maternity education and training programmes, oversees preceptorship and pastoral support initiatives, and provides strategic leadership for fetal surveillance education across the service.

Adele holds Newborn Life Support (NLS) Instructor status, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education for Health Professionals, and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Leadership.

She is passionate about quality improvement, lifelong learning, and creating supportive learning environments that enable maternity staff to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
