Catherine Houlder

Senior Midwifery Sister, Jersey

Catherine is a labour ward co-ordinator in Jersey, Channel Islands.

She qualified in 2008 and spent the initial part of her career integrated between the hospital and community settings. She has worked in delivery suite, stand-alone birth centres and facilitated home deliveries. Catherine has been involved in service redesign projects including a VBAC clinic and introducing MSW roles into the community.

On moving to Jersey in 2013, Catherine was part of a project that developed a new model of care moving antenatal and intrapartum care from hospital to community. This included increasing the homebirth rate and developing antenatal education.

Catherine is an accredited trainer for PROMPT and in addition, she has worked a number of placements in Africa, designing and delivering training to midwives and doctors in the management of obstetric emergencies.
