Meet the Team: Daniella

Daniella joined the Baby Lifeline Training team in February 2018 as our Training and Events Co-ordinator. Coming from a charity background Daniella brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team and is the first point of contact for delegates booking on our courses. Let’s find out some more about her!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger I didn’t really know what I wanted to be, it varied from being a vet working on an African safari to a doctor helping poorly children. I have always loved taking part in community activities and fundraising days, and working with lots of different people so I knew I wanted to do something that would help other people.

What attracted you to the role at Baby Lifeline Training?
After travelling the world from a young age and seeing the deprivation in so many countries, I had time to contemplate what was important to me and that was being part of something that gives back. Baby Lifeline offers training courses for maternity health professionals to attend, and the number of mothers, babies and families that benefit all over the country from these study days is inspiring. Baby Lifeline truly is a great place to work and I am proud to be a part of the team.

What experience are you bringing to the role/team?
My previous job was with a community interest company. I was responsible for the co-ordination of a number of large projects for both the charity and Ltd arms of the company. I have gained a great deal of experience and understanding of the way the third sector works and this has given me a great start at Baby Lifeline.

What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done in your first few months?
Every day is different and there is always something new and exciting happening, being part of this makes me look forward to coming into work every morning. I have attended Baby Lifeline Training courses and always come away feeling like I have learnt something new. On top of this I am meeting and working with people who inspire me to want to make a change, what could be more exciting than that!

What have you learnt?
A lot! I don’t come from a medical background so I have found it fascinating to learn about midwifery and multi-disciplinary training, the equipment available to the health professionals and the different factors that go into caring for mothers and their babies. I am excited to learn more!

Describe a typical day at the office.
My day begins by checking through my emails, processing course orders and updating delegate information. After that each day varies, from processing post course materials and preparing for the following weeks courses, to ensuring the course equipment is in working order and safely stored in the correct place ready for when it is next needed.

When you aren’t working, what are you doing?
I am from an Italian family so when my working day is done I enjoy nothing more than going home and cooking wonderful Italian meals and spending time with my nieces and nephews. My weekends are full of family time or days out, but when I can, I like to relax. There is nothing better than a nice cup of tea and a good film!
